Getting to Oranjestad, Aruba: Transportation Options and Travel Tips
For our girl's trip to Aruba, we took a direct flight from New York to Queen Beatrix International Airport. Taxis are readily available at the airport, and many hotels and resorts offer shuttle bus services. Check with your accommodation if they provide airport transfers. The airport staff can assist you in finding the right shuttle bus pickup spot.

Where to Stay in Oranjestad, Aruba?
During our visit, we stayed at the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino, now known as Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort. The resort offers access to a private island with flamingos, included in your stay. Just head to the island water taxi in the lobby for an 8-minute cruise to the island. The rooms were beautiful, and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Renting a car from Queen Beatrix International Airport allows you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace. While public transportation is popular among tourists, renting a car provides flexibility and the opportunity to discover Aruba's beauty within a 2-3 hour drive across the island.

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking coastal views by renting a bike. Enjoy the scenic routes, but don't forget to bring plenty of water and apply sunscreen to stay protected from the intense heat.
Taxi
Experience convenient taxi services in Aruba, readily available in tourist areas and taxi stands. Most hotels and resorts have partnerships with specific taxi companies, making it easy to request a taxi. Remember to pay and tip in cash, either in Aruba Florin or USD.
Bus
Aruba boasts an easily accessible bus system with a comprehensive schedule, offering transportation to almost any destination on the island.
Walking
Discover the charm of Aruba on foot, as it is relatively safe to explore throughout the day. In Oranjestad, the main tourist attractions are within a short walking distance, making it convenient to navigate the city on foot. Walking was my preferred mode of transportation during my time in Aruba.

Discover the island's picturesque snorkeling spots while enjoying Aruba's famous rum punch. Swing off the rope swing on the boat and encounter marine life like stingrays. The crew is friendly and creates a fun atmosphere on board.

Embark on an ATV adventure to explore the natural wonders of Aruba. Visit the natural swimming pool, an old gold mine, and a natural land bridge. Remember to apply sunscreen generously for this excursion.
Hang Out with Flamingos
Don't miss the chance to visit the internet-famous flamingos at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort. Guests staying at the hotel have access to the island. If you're staying elsewhere, you can purchase a day pass (subject to availability) to enjoy the company of these beautiful birds.
Swim and Relax at the Beach
Aruba offers a range of public and private beaches where you can soak up the sun, enjoy turquoise waters, and embrace the breathtaking views.
Downtown Oranjestad
