    Salem is known for the infamous Salem Witch Trials, drawing dark history-lovers and those interested in learning about witchcraft, for hundreds of years. 

    Located on the north coast of Massachusetts, just above Boston, Salem is perfect for a long weekend trip for all ages. During Halloween, the town hosts spooky events for all of the visitors present and from beyond the grave.

    Getting to Salem, Massachusetts: Transportation Options and Travel Tips

    Getting to Salem is convenient, with various transportation options available. If driving, be prepared for potential traffic, especially during peak tourist season and Halloween. Alternatively, you can reach Salem by AMTRAK, bus, or train, which all have direct routes to the city. For those arriving by air, Boston's Logan International Airport is the closest major airport. From there, you can easily reach Salem by car, bus, ferry, or train.

    There are several accommodation options in and around Salem, ranging from hotels to Airbnbs. The Hampton Inn is a popular choice for visitors, offering comfortable lodging. However, there are plenty of other hotels and cozy rentals available. It's important to note that prices tend to increase and options fill up quickly closer to Halloween, so booking in advance is recommended.

    Getting Around Salem, Massachusetts

    Salem Trolley

    From April 1st to November 1st, hop on the Salem Trolley for an informative hour-long tour or use it as a convenient hop-on-hop-off service throughout the day. Don't miss this unique transportation experience in Salem.

    Car

    Explore Salem at your own pace by driving or renting a car. Keep in mind that during peak tourist season and Halloween, parking can be limited, and heavy pedestrian traffic is common near museums.

    Salem Skipper

    Try the convenient Salem Skipper rideshare service for easy transportation within Salem. Enjoy rides for $2 per person or $1 for students, senior citizens, or individuals with accommodations. Students, remember to bring your school ID.

    Bike

    Take advantage of Salem's Bluebikes, available for rent through the Bluebikes app at $10 for a 24-hour period. Cycling is a fantastic way to navigate the city and reach attractions located just outside the town center.
