I’ve learned that I forgot most of my Greek 😅

But I also learned that this was also a different trip for me.

During my three years living abroad, I was grateful for the opportunity to travel solo: to experience new cultures, meet new people, and, somewhere along the way, learn more about myself.

Greece was my first solo trip since coming home, but this time, I was meeting a different version of myself.

Life had gotten faster, and more of the 9-5 routine.
The days were busier and the phone was always within reach with work messages.

So I wanted this trip to be a pause. A chance to step away from the noise, put down the technology, experience something new, and spend some time with my own thoughts.

People often ask me about solo female travel and tell me how courageous it is.

And yes, there’s courage in traveling alone. But I think the harder, and more rewarding, part is what happens when you’re alone with yourself.

Solo travel gives you the freedom to meet new people, say yes to trying experiences that you may be scared to try, and discover parts of the world you’ve never seen.

But it also gives you a mirror.

Without your usual routines, responsibilities, expectations, and people around you, there’s suddenly more room to notice yourself. To reflect on who you’ve been, who you are now, and who you might be becoming.

Sometimes we spend so much time moving through life that we don’t realize how many layers of ourselves get buried underneath the pace of it all.

Solo travel gives some of those layers room to surface.

So when people ask me for recommendations traveling alone,

I say: be open.

Open to the discomfort. Open to the quiet. Open to meeting strangers, changing plans, getting a little lost, and spending time with yourself.

Because sometimes the best thing a journey can give you isn’t a new place to discover.

It’s a little more space to discover yourself.

Mentally, I’m still sun-kissed and on the beach 🏖️

Tips for Grenada 🇬🇩

1. Bring cash, there’s weirdly not a lot of ATMs in high traffic areas?

2. Things move on island time = things may take longer or not go as planned. Be open minded and adaptable.

3. Always bring water and sunblock with you… the sun sneaks up on you.

4. Their rum punch packs a punch!
