If you’re seeing an excessive amount of bugs in the food stall, cart, or near the food (usually the workers will swat the bugs away but if they don’t that’s not a good sign) then I would opt for a different location. Check the reviews online or ask a local or guide for recommendations.

    Are Warungs Safe to Eat At?

    Generally, Warungs are safe places to eat. This is true, especially if they are busy with locals. Trust your gut feeling. Pick places that are busy and clean. The warung food carts are a little more risky for the foreigner’s stomach, so I would not recommend them. Additionally, a general rule is for foreigners to avoid the food carts that have been serving all day past 3PM.
