Getting to Nice is quite convenient due to its strategic location on the French Riviera. Nice has its own international airport, the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE), which serves as a major gateway to the region. Many airlines operate direct flights to Nice from various cities in Europe and beyond. If you prefer a more scenic route, you can also consider traveling by train. The Nice-Ville train station connects the city to major destinations across France and neighboring countries. Additionally, Nice is well-connected by bus and car, making it accessible from other cities in the region. Here are a few insider tips from this travel guide:

Bus: If you’re coming from the airport, bus routes 98 or 99 will take you right from the airport to the city center.

Train: The French Riviera is connected by the SNCF train network. With the TGV trains, you’ll quickly reach your destinations.

Car: Driving is possible and is an opportunity to take in gorgeous views while driving along the coastline. However, the roads get very busy during peak tourist season so be prepared for delays.

What to Do in Nice, France?

     Place Masséna

Nice’s famous checkered city center, surrounded by the sea, museums, and is near the Avenue Jean Médecin for shopping. Be sure to stop and take photos with the center fountain.

    Vielle Ville

Also known as Old Town, stop and enjoy authentic French cuisine and stores. During the morning, flea markets pop up for the perfect opportunity to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, and to purchase handmade goods.

    Promenade des Anglais

Walk by Nice’s, pretty cobblestone coastline, stretching for more than 2 miles. Stop to enjoy the ocean air, or to visit the shops along the Promenade.

    Cathedrale Orthodoxe Russe St. Nicolas

A part of Russia, dropped right in the middle of Nice. This beautiful church was commissioned by Tsar Nicolas II to be built in the 20th century. Visitors can tour the church 9 AM to 6PM every day, except Sundays which are for regular service, for $12. However, if you just wish to take a peek inside, admission is free.

    Jardin du Monastère de Cimiez

Take a step back into 1546 and walk through a garden previously used by monks for growing vegetables. The garden is free to the public and is open year-round and still resembles the original garden.

    Castle Hill

Also known as Colline du Chateau, visit the remaining structure of the Chateau de Nice. Climb the extra steps up the hill for a spectacular view of Nice.

    Go Shopping

There are plenty of stores and boutique shops throughout Nice, but if you’re really looking to shop then I suggest Avenue Jean Médecin. This street has international chains, department stores, and French cafes and boutiques.

    Relax on the Beach

In Nice, there are both private and public beaches. The private beaches tend to be the white sand with the ability to rent chairs, umbrellas, etc. which can get expensive. The public beaches are free, but are on the pebbles which can be uncomfortable unless you bring your own chairs.

Nice is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends Mediterranean beauty, cultural richness, and modern charm, making it a delightful city to explore and savor unforgettable experiences. With this travel guide, your visit is sure to be memorable!

    Travel Tip

There’s an “I Love Nice” sign located up the hill of the Promenade that’s great for photos, and for an amazing view of the coastline.
