Safety

Hungary is a safe country to visit, including for solo female travelers. Locals and tourists walk around cities throughout the day and late into the evening, using public transport that operates during the evenings. The sidewalks in major cities are well-maintained and well-lit. I visited the country as a solo female traveler and experienced no problems. However, I advise exercising caution and following general safety tips when participating in nightlife, especially in Budapest, where drug dealers may be present, particularly targeting individuals walking alone.
