Getting to Grasse, France: Transportation Options and Travel Tips

Getting to Grasse is a straightforward and enjoyable experience. If you're arriving by air, the nearest major airport is Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE), which is well-connected to various international destinations. From the airport, you can opt for several transportation options to reach Grasse. The most convenient and efficient way is to hire a car at the airport, as Grasse is easily accessible by road. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or use ride-hailing services like Uber from the airport to Grasse. Another option is to take the train from Nice to Grasse, which offers a scenic and comfortable journey through the beautiful landscapes of the French Riviera.

Bus: It is possible to travel to Grasse by bus. However, depending where you're coming from in the French Rivera, the bus can take a while. Be sure to check in advance the bus travel time when planning out your trip.

Train: The immense train network of the SNCF does travel to the villages in the mountains. If you’re traveling from Nice, it will take about an hour to reach their location.

Car: If you’ve rented a car, while in the French Riviera, it’s possible to drive to Grasse, which has designated parking for visitors in the town. However, if you’re not interested in renting a car, there’s a variety of day trip excursions that only go to the medieval villages and will drive you around, which is how I traveled to Grasse.

    Getting Around Grasse, France

    Car

Please note that cars are not permitted inside the medieval villages unless you are a resident, gallery owner, or shop owner. While exploring the charming medieval village, keep an eye out for designated parking areas to leave your car during your visit or when exploring the surrounding town.

    Bike

If you're considering biking within the villages, the feasibility may depend on the time of your visit. During the off-season, when there are fewer tourists, biking may be more feasible as the villages are relatively more open. However, be aware that the narrow streets can become overcrowded in the summer, making biking less ideal during that time.

    Walking

Embrace the pedestrian-friendly ambiance of the medieval villages as walking is the primary means of exploration within these quaint settings. Although the medieval village is relatively small, most other attractions are conveniently within walking distance, offering you a delightful journey through the captivating landscapes.
